Fundraising

The goal of the fundraising committee is to raise money while building strong, broad-based community support for the performing arts at CCHS. This committee is a great place for people who can see the possibilities in anything, are creative and like to work in a team-oriented environment. We also need people who can turn creativity into reality by organizing events, communicating ideas effectively and garnering support from the CCHS and local communities.

In 2000-2001 we began what has become an annual tradition for CCPOPS and the CCHS community at large called A Time to Shine. Parents, teachers and alumni perform, accompanied by a meal served by students and prepared by Mr. Brown and a large group of volunteers. An auction rounds out this evening of entertainment for the community. A Time to Shine requires volunteers with talents in many different areas to come together to create a memorable evening for all who attend. The proceeds from this fantastic event provide approximately half of the operating budget for CCPOPS.

The second half of the operating budget comes from selling space for advertisements in the spring musical playbill. This is a huge effort that requires a group of volunteers who are willing to solicit ads from local businesses. The playbill is a wonderful example of how the Concord and Carlisle communities support the performing arts at CCHS.

Occasionally we raise funds with specific needs in mind. For example, during the 2002-2003 school year, we raised money to purchase two new pianos for CCHS. This year, the Chorus is going on tour to Prague, Vienna and Salzburg in April 2005, and we are currently accepting donations for scholarships to provide as many students as possible with the opportunity to participate in this memorable European Tour.

While the main goal of the fundraising committee is to raise money to support the endeavors of the CCHS performing arts program, we also believe that we can sponsor events that are geared toward having fun and building a broad base of community support. If any or all of these ideas and goals are appealing to you, please consider lending your time to one or more of the fundraising activities of CCPOPS. Your investment will pay huge dividends to our talented, young performing artists.
