CCHS Orchestra Concert, CCHS Auditorium

Nov 2 2006 - 7:30pm

Body:
This is the first concert of the year for the CCHS Orchestra. Under the direction of Scott Knopf, who is in his second year at Concord-Carlisle, the string orchestra will be performing three well-known works:

  • J. S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto Number Three
  • Edvard Grieg’s Holberg Suite
  • Aaron Copland’s Hoedown, from Rodeo

The Concord-Carlisle orchestra has grown by 25% from last year, with many well-trained freshmen joining the orchestra in September. Last year the orchestra traveled to the annual Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductor’s Association Festival, where they were awarded a silver medal. Several more concerts are planned for the school year, including accompanying the high school chorus in a January concert, and adding wind instruments for a performance of a Beethoven work in the spring.
The performance is free and open to the public.
