CCHS Choruses

Welcome to the Concord-Carlisle High School Chorus web pages

There are currently four choral ensembles at CCHS under the direction of
Ms. Deborah Smith.

Contact Ms. Smith at dsmith(at)colonial(dot)net

Chorus — is our largest choir of mixed women's and men's voices. Chorus develops the young singer both vocally and musically. Chorus performs a wide variety of music, from Bach to Broadway, and everything in between. The chorus is in two sections which are combined for performances. There are no auditions and enrollment is unlimited.

Women's Ensemble — is a choir comprised of treble voices only. This year the Women’s Ensemble repertoire will emphasize Jazz, Broadway, Pop and A Cappella Style music. There are no auditions and enrollment is unlimited.

Select Choir — is an auditioned vocal ensemble made up of women's and men's voices. Select Choir usually numbers between 20 to 25 singers. The ensemble performs an eclectic mix of music of an advanced level of difficulty, with an emphasis on a cappella literature of yesterday and today. Auditions for Select Choir take place during midterms for the following school year.

DISNEY WORLD TRIP

This year the Chorus will be travelling to Disney World Orlando! The trip is slated for May 1- 4 of 2008. Obviously, an undertaking like this cannot happen without parent help. We will need a parent to head up a trip committee. There will be several fundraisers along the way so we will need parents to run those. Al Dentino has kindly volunteered to share the very successful Innisbrook sale with us this year. The first thing we need immediately is a parent or parents to coordinate this sale for the Chorus kids. Please contact Debbie Smith ASAP if you are willing to take on this activity!

The proposed trip will include visits to several of the Disney parks, as well as participation in the Disney Sings! Workshop, a workshop just for high school choral singers. Additionally, Ms. Smith will be submitting audition CD's of our ensembles for consideration to perform at one of the park venues. This trip promises to be the highlight of the year for our choral singers!

On Friday, May 11, 2007, the CCHS Chorus participated in the Music in the Parks Festival at Six Flags New England. The event consisted of an evaluated performance in the morning and the afternoon spent at Six Flags. The day culminated in an outdoor awards ceremony where groups receive their rating and trophy. The students presented a terrific performance and behaved in an exemplary manner throughout the day.

At the awards ceremony the Chorus received a "Superior" rating, the best rating possible, and our overall score was one of the highest chorus scores of the day, a 95 out of 100. Additionally, Senior John Eldridge, who accompanied the Chorus for our performance, was awarded the Student Accompanist Medal by
the judges. It was a wonderful day enjoyed by all!
