Repertory Band

The CCHS Repertory Band is a traditional large concert band with the standard woodwinds, brass and percussion format. It rehearses four times per week during the regularly scheduled school day, and occasionally in the evenings, as the need arises. The band is a graded course and earns credit towards graduation. Mr. Dentino is its conductor.

Any Concord-Carlisle student who plays a band instrument is eligible for participation in the Repertory Band — there is no entry audition requirement nor is there an age prerequisite. When incoming freshmen register for classes, and band, in March of their eighth-grade year, they are automatically placed in Repertory Band. Exceptions are made only for incoming freshmen who demonstrate the skills necessary to play the advanced literature of Concert Band. Freshmen who sign up for, and pass, the rigorous Concert Band audition, may register for Concert Band, rather than Repertory Band.

Concert Band

The CCHS Concert Band is a large ensemble of eighty to ninety members that performs a minimum of six concerts per year. The traditional large concert band format—woodwinds, brass and percussion—is observed. The band rehearses four times per week as a regularly scheduled class during the school day and occasionally in the evenings, as necessary.

The Concert Band is an ability-based ensemble comprised of seniors, juniors, sophomores and some freshmen. Auditions are required for placement in this band. Students register for Concert Band when they sign up for classes, and receive both a grade and credit towards graduation. Incoming freshmen who feel that they may have the ability to perform at the advanced Concert Band level, may opt to undertake a rigorous audition in February of their eighth-grade year before they register for classes in March. If they pass the audition, they may register for Concert Band. Otherwise, all incoming freshmen are automatically placed in Repertory Band. Once a student earns placement in Concert Band, they may remain in Concert Band throughout the remainder of their high school years. However, once in Concert Band, the student must maintain the highest level of musical skills, responsibility, and proper attitude or they risk reassignment.

Instrumental Music at CCHS

The Concord-Carlisle Regional High School Instrumental Music Program offers a wide variety of performance and academic music opportunities for, currently, nearly 250 students. Students enrolled in our instrumental ensembles strive for, and achieve, excellence while having fun playing their instruments with their friends in a positive social atmosphere. Participating in any of our instrumental performing organizations is an excellent way for students new to Concord-Carlisle to feel part of a group and make new friends.
