CCHS Orchestra Concert, CCHS Auditorium

Nov 2 2006 - 7:30pm

Body:
This is the first concert of the year for the CCHS Orchestra. Under the direction of Scott Knopf, who is in his second year at Concord-Carlisle, the string orchestra will be performing three well-known works:

  • J. S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto Number Three
  • Edvard Grieg’s Holberg Suite
  • Aaron Copland’s Hoedown, from Rodeo

The Concord-Carlisle orchestra has grown by 25% from last year, with many well-trained freshmen joining the orchestra in September. Last year the orchestra traveled to the annual Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductor’s Association Festival, where they were awarded a silver medal. Several more concerts are planned for the school year, including accompanying the high school chorus in a January concert, and adding wind instruments for a performance of a Beethoven work in the spring.

Band fundraising — Innisbrook sale

The 2007-08 CCHS Bands' fundraiser will once again be our annual Innisbrook sale. The sale period begins September 21st and ends October 11th. Innisbrook has been a huge promoter and supporter of the CCHS Bands for 12 years. Interested customers who wish to purchase chocolates or holiday wrapping paper need only contact any band member to help. Ask them about Innisbrook's easy on-line ordering process where friends and relatives all over the country can support our bands. The fundraiser has helped send many students to Japan and China, provided financial support for our Taiko drum purchase, has helped to further the relationship with our Japanese friends, and has established a first-ever Band Scholarship Account. For the first time, band members can request scholarship assistance for private lessons, All-State participation, or even perhaps participation at a summer music camp, to name merely a few possibilities.
