Barnum-Feed the Kids information for parentsJanuary 11, 2006 Dear Parents of “Barnum Students”, Rehearsals have begun for this year’s production of Barnum. Our young people will be jumping, singing, building, juggling, dancing, painting, all with one goal, a great show. The parents of students involved are asked to support these efforts. One of the main volunteer opportunities is the Feed the Kids program. During vacation week the cast, pit orchestra, and crew are served a meal, and snacks and water are available throughout the days of rehearsal. A menu is posted and parents are asked to help prepare, serve and clean up. ( categories: )
BARNUM VOLUNTEERS NEEDEDCCPOPS is gearing up to support Mr. Kendall, Mr. Dentino, the cast, pit orchestra, and crew. CCHS students will produce and perform SIX performances of BARNUM on March 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, & 12. CCPOPS needs a HUGE amount of support from parents and friends of the performing arts to provide the backup needed to enable these remarkable students and Mr. Kendall to produce another outstanding show. We are looking for adult and student volunteers. The following are some areas where help will be needed and the person to contact: PLAYBILL ADVERTISING: Here’s your chance to say, “Great Job!” to your student. This is an opportunity to say how proud you are and support CCPOPS at the same time by placing an ad in the Barnum playbill. Please see the attached form for information. Business ads can also be placed. If you would like to help with business ad sales or have a business you would like to promote, contact Priscilla Sturges at pwsturges(at)comcast(dot)net ( categories: )
Barnum
Barnum, the tale of one of the greatest showmen in American history, will be brought to life on the CCHS stage in March, 2006. BARNUM (music by Cy Coleman, lyrics by Michael Stewart) is the story of Phineas Taylor Barnum and the remarkable life he led from sideshow promoter to museum owner to politician to circus co-owner. This will be a thrilling show, which will include acrobatic and circus performers along with the usual actors, singers, and dancers. We all have favorite musicals, but this one contains so much energy, great music, and fun that it’s surprising that it isn’t performed more often. Barnum opened on Broadway in 1980 and was nominated for 11 Tony awards that year. Up for Best Musical, it lost to Evita, which is probably why Barnum is one of the great “obscure” musicals of Broadway. ( categories: )
